The Vocational School of Technical Sciences of Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University in Karaman started teaching in 1987, originally under Selçuk University; carpet-making and ceramics programmes were added in 1989. Its Handicrafts Department today runs two two-year associate degrees: Architectural Decorative Arts, focused on traditional and modern decorative techniques for architecture and interiors, and Traditional Handicrafts, which covers crafts such as weaving and embroidery. Both programmes combine theory with workshop practice and require a 30-working-day internship.
