KU Art+Design is the Department of Art and Design of Kathmandu University's School of Arts, based in Hattiban, Lalitpur. The university started its art and design programme in 2003 with a one-year diploma in fine arts in Bhaktapur. Today it offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (studio art and graphic communication), a Master of Fine Arts, short courses and a four-year Bachelor of Craft and Design. The craft and design degree works with metal, wood, jewellery, stone, ceramics, natural fibres and textiles, with studio practice, apprenticeships and mentoring by master artisans.
