The Department of Fashion and Textile of King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah was established in 1401/1402 AH (1981/1982) within the Faculty of Home Economics, and the university states that it was the first specialised academic department in this field in the Kingdom. It now belongs to the Faculty of Human Sciences and Design. Its programmes combine theory and practice in fashion design, textile science and weaving techniques, with specialised fashion-design software and equipped workshops and laboratories for designing and producing clothing.
