Koulutuskeskus Salpaus is a vocational education centre in Lahti that teaches the vocational qualification in crafts and design (artisan) at its city-centre and Vipusenkatu campuses. Fields include precious metals (jewellery and other precious-metal products and engraving), cabinetmaking with traditional joinery, modern woodworking and 3D modelling, furniture and vehicle upholstery, interiors and prop making. The school states that its precious-metal teaching has its roots in the goldsmiths' association school in Helsinki, where teaching began in 1938, and moved to Lahti fifty years ago.
