Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design dates its history from 1 October 1930, when the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute of the Leather Industry and the Kyiv Textile Institute opened; they merged in 1944 into the Kyiv Technological Institute of Light Industry. Today it teaches design, fashion, engineering, business and chemical technologies; its programmes include clothing design and costume design, fashion industry, and the construction, technology and artistic finishing of garments and light-industry products, at bachelor's and master's level.
