In short

Kyoto University of the Arts, called Kyoto University of Art and Design until 2020, is a private art university on the Uryūyama campus in Sakyo ward, Kyoto. Its Dyeing and Textiles course teaches the basics of dyeing and weaving by hand in the first year, works with a Kyoto dyeing brand on designing, making and selling products in the second, and adds digital techniques later, with large printing tables, looms and a digital fabrication workshop. The university also has on-campus courses in fashion design and in product design.
