In short
Le Arti Orafe (LAO) is a goldsmithing and jewellery school in Florence, founded in 1985 by the goldsmith Giò Carbone, which describes itself as the first Italian school dedicated to contemporary jewellery. It offers quarterly, semester, annual and two-year courses as well as short, intensive, summer and group courses in goldsmithing, jewellery drawing and design, stone setting, engraving, enamelling, CAD and 3D printing. The school, in Via dei Serragli, states that it is an accredited training agency and an authorised Erasmus body, and it has promoted jewellery culture through exhibitions and the project that became Florence Jewellery Week.
