The Liepāja Music, Art and Design Secondary School brings together the Liepāja art school, founded in 1926 on the idea of the artist Hermanis Aplociņš as the Liepāja School of Art and Crafts, and the city's music secondary school, merged in 2016; it is under the Latvian Ministry of Culture. The art and design school offers four-year vocational secondary programmes after year 9 in art, visual image styling, architecture, product design (with specialisation in wood, metal or ceramics), fashion accessory design (leather, textiles or metal jewellery), clothing design, graphic and audiovisual communication design, and interior design. Teaching takes place at Alejas iela 18, where preparatory courses are also held.
