In short
J. & L. Lobmeyr is a Viennese glass and lighting house founded in 1823 by Joseph Lobmeyr, which soon became purveyor to the Imperial Court and has been carried on by the family across generations. Its glasses are mouth-blown and then cut, engraved and polished entirely by hand, and its chandeliers and lighting are made in its workshops at Salesianergasse 9 in Vienna's 3rd district, the family house and production site, which can be visited on arranged guided tours. The house describes copper-wheel engraving, practised by its engravers, as a rare craft that takes time, a steady hand and long experience. Its flagship store is in Vienna.
