In short
The Lycée George Sand in La Châtre, in the Indre, is a public general, technological and vocational lycée whose vocational section includes a wood track (Bac Pro joinery and timber construction) and a complementary training course in lutherie (FCIL). From mid-September to the end of February, practising luthiers teach tonewoods, tooling and sharpening, tuning and maintenance, and the making of traditional instruments such as the ukulele, hurdy-gurdy, violin, bagpipes and diatonic accordion; company placements follow until the end of May. The course has 12 places, is open on application to holders of a wood diploma or a baccalaureate and to adults in continuing education, and leads to a non-degree certificate of training.
