The Lycée professionnel Denis Diderot in Romilly-sur-Seine, in the Aube department, is a public vocational school that, besides industrial maintenance, commerce, administration and security, teaches several art crafts. In cabinetmaking it offers the CAP (two years, or one year for holders of another diploma) and the BMA craft diploma, covering veneering, marquetry, period and contemporary furniture and restoration; it also runs a one-year CAP in stained glass, open to adults retraining, and a one-year CAP in art ironwork, where students forge gates, railings, lamps and furniture and learn restoration. The school traces its origins to a vocational training centre that opened in a former hosiery factory in 1947 and took the name Denis Diderot in 1977.
