Lycée professionnel Edmond Doucet

In short

The Lycée professionnel Edmond Doucet is a public vocational lycée on rue Paul Doumer in Équeurdreville-Hainneville, part of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin in the Manche. Among its industrial and service courses it trains marine carpenters: the two-year CAP Charpentier de marine teaches how to build, repair and restore wooden boats, from full-size lofting and templates to framing the hull, planking, fitting-out and finishing. Holders of the CAP can continue with the two-year Brevet professionnel Charpentier de marine, offered only as an apprenticeship, which covers traditional construction, repair and restoration of wooden vessels and associated materials.
