In short
The Émile Gallé vocational lycée, at 5 rue Auguste Dedecker in Thaon-les-Vosges, traces its vocational teaching back to 1942, when the sewing section of the Centre familial ménager of the Vosges region opened; it moved into its present buildings in 1985 and in 2012 became a trade lycée for art crafts and personal services. Alongside care, social and activity-leadership courses, its sewing and clothing pole prepares the three-year vocational baccalaureate Métiers de la couture et de la confection, which trains technical staff for garment prototypes, from design and pre-industrialisation to patterns, with 18 weeks of work placements.
