In short

Maison Michel is a Paris hat maker founded in 1936, when Auguste Michel set up his millinery at 65 rue Sainte-Anne; it joined CHANEL's Métiers d'art in 1997. Since March 2021 its workshops have been at le19M, where block makers (formiers) carve hat blocks in wood, hatters mould and shape felt and straw, and milliners handle trimming, finishing and ornamentation. The house says these skills are passed down from generation to generation in its workshops; it also makes made-to-measure hats and accessories.
