In short
The Automotive Restoration Technology Program of McPherson College, in McPherson, Kansas, was established in 1976 with a gift of more than 125 classic and antique cars from local entrepreneur Gaines H. "Smokey" Billue, and is housed in Templeton Hall. The college states that it is the only school to offer a bachelor's degree in restoration technology; graduates manage collections, work for auction companies or concours venues, work as restoration technicians or run restoration shops. Students restored a 1953 Mercedes-Benz 300 S Cabriolet that took second in class at the 2023 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, and the Automotive Restoration Institute offers restoration workshops for the public.
