In short

The Department of Industrial Design of Ming Chi University of Technology, in Taishan District, New Taipei, was created in December 1963 together with the school, and the school states it was the first industrial design department in Taiwan. Its programmes cover product analysis, planning, development and practical design, with research studios in digital design, new product development and design strategy. Undergraduates spend a full year as intern designers in partner companies, and the department has run a design centre serving industry since 1986.
