In short
Multicolores is a Guatemala-registered non-profit association, based in Panajachel, that works with Maya K'iche', Kaqchikel and Tz'utujil women from nine communities in the Guatemalan highlands. Its artists practise two contemporary textile techniques, rug hooking and embroidery, and the association offers them ongoing creative education through workshops; it held its first rug-making workshop in 2009 and teaches a repertoire of more than 50 embroidery stitches. Works are made from recycled garments and are bought from the artists by the association for sale.
