In short

Musikinstrumentakademien is a guitar-making school run by Folkuniversitetet in Kräftriket, Stockholm, near Stockholm University, sharing its workshop premises with a furniture-making line. Its Guitar Maker programme (Gitarrbyggare) is a three-year, tuition-free, full-time vocational course: the first year covers tool care, machining of wood and basic craft techniques, the second deepens manufacturing techniques, restoration and maintenance with lectures in music history, and the third leads to a degree project and includes a 23-week work placement. Students can take the journeyman's examination in the final year.
