In short
The Crafts course of the Nagoya University of Arts, a private university of art, music and design that opened in 1970 in what is now Kitanagoya, near Nagoya, is devoted to ceramics and glass. In ceramics students learn hand-building, wheel-throwing and mould forming; in glass, glassblowing, grinding and casting, working toward pieces that range from tableware and stained glass to artworks. After a first-year foundation in many materials, students choose their main material from the second year; the course also takes part in cross-disciplinary projects with textiles and metal.
