In short
The Industrial Design programme of the College of Design at North Carolina State University in Raleigh offers the Bachelor of Industrial Design and the Master of Industrial Design, both accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. Students work in a studio setting close to that of professional design offices, studying how people interact with objects and services and developing products that balance form, function, innovation and practicality, including in sponsored studios with companies. The college's Materials Lab, with a wood shop, metal shop, paint booth, laser cutters and CNC equipment, lets students build full-scale working prototypes and models; the college's history records that a product design programme was created in 1958.
