In short
Designskolan is a one-year preparatory design course at Ölands folkhögskola, a folk high school run by Region Kalmar län about six kilometres south-east of Färjestaden on Öland. Each week has a new theme, taught with around twenty guest teachers, to practise idea development, sketching and visualisation, working mostly by hand with wood, metal, textile and clay; the school has workshops for wood, metal, plaster, clay, fibre, screen printing and textiles. The course takes 16 participants a year and prepares a portfolio for higher studies in product design, industrial design, interior architecture and architecture.
