The Faculty of Fine Arts of Ondokuz Mayıs University in Samsun, on Turkey's Black Sea coast, was established in 2012. It has its own fine arts campus with workshops for ceramics, hot and cold glass, industrial design, visual communication and painting. Its Industrial Design department follows a practice-based approach, with graduation project exhibitions, collaborations with local firms on real industry problems, technical visits and seminars on fields such as packaging, lighting and medical product design. The Ceramics and Glass department sets out an eight-semester course combining studio work in both materials and aims to train artists and designers for industry; the university's Samsun Vocational School also runs a programme in Architectural Decorative Arts.
