The Ladik Vocational School of Ondokuz Mayıs University, in Ladik (Samsun province), runs two weaving programmes alongside its agricultural ones. Carpet and Kilim Making teaches the history of Turkish carpet and kilim art, pattern design, textile materials and dye technology, with practical work in pattern drawing, natural dyeing and weaving techniques. Hemp Weaving covers traditional and modern hand looms, fabric weaving with hemp yarn, pattern and computer design and dyeing; both programmes include a 30-working-day internship in workshops or factories.
