In short
The Department of Crafts of the Osaka University of Arts, a private art university in Kanan, Osaka Prefecture, was added to the Faculty of Arts in 1970. Students learn the basics of four courses and then specialise: metal craft (casting, forging and chasing), ceramics, glass craft and textiles and dyeing, which keeps traditional dyeing and weaving techniques while trying new forms. Workshops include welding and casting rooms, glaze laboratories, gas kilns and large electric kilns for kiln-formed glass, with digital skills taught alongside hand-making.
