The Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design began in Lahore in 1994 as the Pakistan School of Fashion Design, a project of the Export Promotion Bureau affiliated with the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne; it took its current name in 2008 and received degree-awarding status through the PIFD Act of 2011. Its bachelor's programmes cover fashion design and production, textile design, jewellery design and gemological sciences, furniture design, leather apparel, accessories and footwear, and ceramic and glass design, alongside fashion marketing and a Master of Design. The main campus is in Johar Town, Lahore, and the site also mentions campuses in Islamabad, Karachi and Skardu.
