In short
The Thiers centre of the Pôle Formation UIMM Auvergne, home of the CFAI d'Auvergne in Thiers, trains apprentices and adults in industrial trades in a town known for cutlery. Its cutlery course is the CAP Instruments coupants et de chirurgie, taken over two years as an apprenticeship or in about eight months as continuing education; it covers machining, heat treatment, assembling fixed and folding knives, polishing, shaping handles, sharpening and repair. The centre also offers a CQP in polishing and takes part in the town's cutlery events.
