The College of Textiles and Clothing of Qingdao University, in Qingdao, Shandong Province, grew out of the Shandong Textile Institute and traces its origins to a textile training course opened in April 1950. It offers six undergraduate programmes: textile engineering, clothing design and engineering, light chemical engineering, nonwoven materials and engineering, fashion and accessory design, and fashion performance, as well as master's and doctoral studies in textile science and engineering. Its research directions include eco-textiles, functional fibres and textiles, and textile fashion and creative design.
