In short
The Richard Robinson Fashion Design Academy in Ottawa is a fashion design school focused on haute couture; it states that it preserves the techniques its founder Richard Robinson learned at the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne and during internships at Dior and Yves Saint Laurent in 1969. Its two-year full-time Fashion Designer diploma, approved as a vocational programme under Ontario's Career Colleges Act, covers fashion sketching, pattern making, haute couture sewing, fashion history, textiles, knit fabrics and fashion marketing, and ends with a final collection of at least six looks. The academy also offers part-time classes and summer camps, and its students show their work at an annual fashion show in May.
