Riga Design and Art School

Riga Design and Art School is a vocational secondary school of art and design in Riga that traces its origins to the Catherine School (Katharinaeum); it later became the Riga School of Arts and Crafts, with weaving, bookbinding, leather, metal, ceramics and needlework departments, and then the Riga Secondary School of Applied Arts. Today it runs five programmes in three buildings, at Krišjāņa Valdemāra iela 139, Lāčplēša iela 55 and the Riga Makerspace prototyping workshop. The four-year clothing design programme teaches garment design from sketches to sewing and collection presentation, while product design uses wood, metal, ceramics, moulding, textile, jewellery and fashion accessory workshops to make prototypes and products.
