In short
The Royal School of Needlework is a hand embroidery school and charity based at Hampton Court Palace, south-west of London, which began in 1872 as the School of Art Needlework in a small room in Sloane Street. It teaches hand embroidery from beginner to degree level: short classes and courses, the Certificate and Diploma in Technical Hand Embroidery, the Hand Embroidery: Skills & Studies programme and a BA (Hons) in Hand Embroidery validated by Kingston University. It teaches online and in person at venues across the UK and abroad, and its Embroidery Studio makes bespoke commissions and restores and conserves historical embroidery.
