In short

The Weaving School is one of the programmes of the Royal Textile Academy of Bhutan, a non-profit organisation founded in Thimphu in May 2005 under the patronage of Queen Mother Sangay Choden Wangchuck to preserve and promote Bhutanese textiles. The school trains students in traditional weaving and yarn dyeing, in design and colour combination, and in basic business and book-keeping skills. The academy, at Chubachu in Thimphu, also runs summer and winter weaving programmes for schoolchildren, a textile museum and a textile conservation centre.
