Sätergläntan

In short

Sätergläntan, the institute for sloyd and handicraft, is in Insjön in Dalarna, on the site where the sisters Elsa and Wilma Långbers built a guesthouse and weaving school about a hundred years ago. Its main activity is the vocational programme Slöjd och hantverk – form och kultur, of one to three years and under the supervision of the Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education, with four specialisations: blacksmithing, sewing, wood and weaving; students learn the whole process from raw material to finished object, and in every specialisation they can take a journeyman's certificate. It also offers distance programmes and short summer courses, with workshops, a boarding house and a library on site.
