The «Vincenzo Melchiorre» goldsmithing school is the Valenza centre of FOR.AL, the vocational training consortium of the Alessandria area, at via Raffaello 2. The school says it has been in Valenza since 1972 as a regional vocational training centre and since 1998 as part of FOR.AL; it trains future goldsmiths in traditional hand skills and offers specialisation to young people who already hold qualifications in modelling and design. Courses range from design and CAD to goldsmithing techniques, gem cutting and stone setting, gemmological analysis and laser technologies, with workshop practice and company placements.
