Shantou Polytechnic is a public higher vocational college in Shantou, Guangdong Province, established in March 2002 from the merger of five colleges and schools; it traces its history back to 1956. Its School of Fashion, built on a clothing and costume design programme opened in 2003 and set up with the Shantou textile and clothing industry association, offers clothing and costume design (with digital fashion and intimate apparel options), garment design and technology, textile inspection and trade, and textile materials. The school states that it is building an industry-education practice centre covering fabric production, garment design, pattern making, garment making and textile testing.
