The Shizuoka University of Art and Culture (SUAC) is a public university in Hamamatsu that opened in 2000 with faculties of cultural policy and design. Within its Department of Design, the Takumi & Product field combines product design, taught through ergonomics, marketing, design exercises and projects, with craft and form design, where students learn traditional Japanese techniques and tools and work by hand with wood, clay, fibre and metal. The university added the Takumi (craft) field in 2019.
