In short
Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, in Chongqing, is the only higher fine arts institution in south-western China; it traces two roots, the Sichuan Provincial Art College founded in Chengdu in 1940 and the Southwest People's Art Institute founded in Chongqing in 1949. Its School of Design offers seven bachelor's programmes: product design, industrial design, visual communication design, digital media art, fashion and accessory design, arts and crafts, and art and design studies, with a department of handicraft art, and trains students up to doctoral level.
