The State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia in Yerevan was established in 1945 as the Fine Arts Institute and was renamed an academy in 2000. Its bachelor's and master's programmes include industrial design, decorative and applied art (ceramics), interior design and fashion design, alongside fine arts and art studies. The academy opened a ceramics department in 1955, a department of textile and tapestry, folk art and traditional crafts in 1961 and a chair of design in 1963, and it has branches in Gyumri and Dilijan.
