The Stroganov Russian State University of Arts and Industry in Moscow was founded by Count S. G. Stroganov in 1825 as a «school of drawing in relation to arts and crafts», to train artists linking traditional crafts with industry; weaving, printing, modelling and, around 1867, ceramics workshops followed, and it was re-established in 1945. Its faculty of monumental, decorative and applied art has departments of art glass, art metal, art ceramics, interior design, graphics, and monumental sculpture and painting. The design faculty covers environmental, communication, industrial and transport design, furniture design and textile design, and a restoration faculty teaches the restoration of furniture, art metal and monumental painting.
