In short
The Tajimi City Ceramic Design Institute (ishoken) is a municipal research and training institute in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture, in the Mino ware production area. It was formed in October 1959, when a cooperative-run Mino ware overglaze research institute was transferred to the city, and its first trainees graduated in 1960. It offers two-year design and craft courses with a common first year, and the Ceramics Lab, a one-year programme (extendable by a year) for people who already have basic ceramic skills; the institute notes that it is a public research body rather than a university or vocational school.
