In short

Uriarte Talavera, founded in 1824, is a talavera workshop in a historic house in the centre of Puebla and the first producer certified under the Mexican standard that grants talavera its Denomination of Origin; in the early 1990s it led the group of workshops that obtained that protection. Its artisans make every piece entirely by hand with the tin-glazed technique introduced in the 16th century: preparing the local clays, throwing or moulding, two firings, and painting with mineral pigments prepared in the workshop. The workshop can be seen on guided tours, and it also offers painting workshops for visitors.
