In short

The Apprenticeshop is a non-profit school of traditional wooden boatbuilding and seamanship on the waterfront of Rockland, Maine. It was founded in 1972 by the educator Lance Lee within the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath, began with eight apprentices and a master builder, and after moves to Rockport and Nobleboro settled in Rockland in 1995. It offers a 12-week boatbuilding intensive, a 9-month and a 2-year apprenticeship in which apprentices build boats for real clients, week-long, weekend and evening workshops, and youth boatbuilding and sailing programmes.
