In short

The Centre for Fine Woodworking is a school of fine woodworking and furniture making at 465 Wakapuaka Road, Nelson, run by a registered charitable trust. Its main course is the Furniture Makers' Programme, a 32-week intensive course limited to eight students a year and open also to people with no prior woodworking experience. The school also runs short courses of two to ten days, for example on wood bending, veneered boxes, introductory woodworking and finishing. The site says the school grew out of the teaching of its founder John Shaw, who trained in furniture making at Rycotewood College and at the College of the Redwoods under James Krenov.
