In short
The Courtauld Institute of Art, an independent college of the University of London, teaches a three-year full-time MA in the Conservation of Easel Paintings, that is paintings on movable supports such as canvas, panel or board. The course combines art history, fine arts and natural sciences: students begin by making replica paintings and then carry out supervised treatments of paintings from public and private collections in the UK, with imaging and scientific analysis. Teaching takes place in the studios and labs at Somerset House on the Strand and at Vernon Square, King's Cross, with an intake of six students a year.
