In short
Tiangong University is a full-time public university in Tianjin, jointly supported by the Ministry of Education and the Tianjin government. It traces its history to the weaving section of the Beijing Industrial School founded in 1912 and has carried its present name since 2000; it describes itself as one of the earliest institutions of textile higher education in China. Its School of Textile Science and Engineering teaches textile engineering, and its School of Art offers fashion and apparel design among four bachelor's majors, with garment workshops and practical courses in lacquer, ceramics and fibre art.
