In short
Tjala Arts, established in 1999, is an Aboriginal-owned and managed art centre in the Amata community on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in the far north-west of South Australia. Its artists work in acrylic on linen, punu (wood work), tjanpi (fibre weaving) and new media; the centre describes itself as a professional art-making studio where culture is celebrated and maintained by Anangu across three generations. Its Kulata Tjuta project, which began at Tjala Arts, shares the skills of spear making across generations.
