UCLA/Getty Interdepartmental Program in the Conservation of Cultural Heritage
In short
The UCLA/Getty Interdepartmental Program in the Conservation of Cultural Heritage, established in 2003, trains conservators of archaeological and Indigenous materials at the University of California, Los Angeles. It offers a three-year MA, with the first cohort entering in 2005, and since 2019 a PhD focused on the conservation of material culture; it states that it admits about five MA and three PhD students every other year. The Getty co-founded the programme and financed its conservation and research laboratories at the Getty Villa in Malibu, and the programme is embedded in the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology, with courses ranging from conservation ethics to materials science and imaging.
