At the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin), fashion design is taught by the Institute for Experimental Fashion and Textile Design (IBT), at Straße des 17. Juni 118. The Bachelor of Design with a fashion pathway is a four-year full-time course based on project work, in which students acquire the craft skills to realise their designs and engage critically with the body, fashion and clothing; it is followed by a one-year master's. The institute has its own workshops for sewing, weaving, knitting, textile screen printing and dyeing, pattern construction and photography, so that materials are woven, knitted, dyed, printed and embroidered in-house.
