The Bachelor's degree in Design of the Federal University of Pernambuco is taught at the Centre for Arts and Communication (CAC) on the university campus in Recife. The university states that design has been taught there since 1972, when the Industrial Design course with programmes in visual communication and product design was created; the Department of Design dates from 1997. The daytime course lasts at least eight semesters and research covers graphic, information and product design; the department also offers a master's degree and specialisation courses including Fashion Design.
