In short
The School of Fine Arts (Escola de Belas Artes) of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro traces its painting and printmaking courses back to 1816 and the former Imperial Academy of Fine Arts. Its undergraduate courses include Conservation and Restoration of movable cultural property (created in 2009), Industrial Design – Product Design, Interior Design, Costume and Scene Design within Performing Arts, Sculpture, Printmaking and Painting. Students work in workshops for painting, sculpture, printmaking and restoration, and in workshops for ceramics, textiles, printing, metal and wood, plastics and screen printing.
