Umeå Institute of Design (UID) is the industrial design school of Umeå University, founded in 1989 and located at Umeå Arts Campus on the banks of the Ume River. It offers a Bachelor's Programme in Industrial Design, Master's programmes in Transportation Design, Advanced Product Design and Interaction Design, and a PhD programme in Industrial Design, all taught in English. The Transportation Design programme includes vehicle concept design projects with external partners. Students have round-the-clock access to workshops for wood, clay and metal as well as prototyping and 3D modelling studios.
